My names Jr (Male). In late July of 2011 I weighed in at 252 pounds and was sick of it. I’m 6’1 in height but wasn’t feeling my weight at all. I hated how out of shape I had gotten. I still could do all the same things running, lifting, playing football. But was easily winded. So I figured it was time I lost weight and toned up. Working out everyday and eating clean for months now. It’s now January 24, 2012 and I’m weighing between 205-207. A LOT leaner and am happy to say I am very content with my body. But I’m currently still pushing forward wanting to see more.
UPDATE: July 25th 2012
Thanks to one of my beautiful follows for pointing it out I am updating this with whats happened since January 24th.
Since around March I started to notice alot of loose skin around my lower stomach and sides of chest. This was instantly discouraging and I actually said to myself. FUCK! Now this? I decided to change up my workout routine and buy more weights. I hit the cardio harder! Sprinting up hills and being a lot more active. Honestly these uphills were killer! I at this point knew I had to start hitting the abs hard. I dreaded it. I honestly hated ab day. When I knew it was ab day I got so unmotivated. Knowing that this HAD to happen I simply went ape shit on ab day. Literally had the music so loud and was making all kind of noise just to push through it. Talking to myself… saying things like… YOU CAN DO THIS! DO YOU LIKE BEING FAT? COME ON JR PUSH!! Not joking everyone. I was saying that shit. Well about a month into ab It became part of my routine let me tell you it’s one of my favorites after chest day. I can now see my top four abs and am currently working on losing the last bit of lower belly fat to get the full ab effect.
Nutrition : Eating clean is easy! You have to want it!
Eating clean isn’t difficult for me. I can say I have chicken or fish 90% of the time. At dinner It’s become a joke in my house where instead of saying the normal. “hey babe what we having for dinner?” We say, “Hey babe how are we gonna prepare our chicken tonight?” We make extra chicken. Enough chicken so I can bring some for lunch the next day. Hot tamales and candys have be subbed for fruit and tuna and hummus. My water intake is ridiculous. If its not a gallon its a tad under by maybe a glass or two. Once a month the wife and I have date night and I allow myself one crown and diet coke. Supplements:
I’ve learned so much within this year alone about what mistakes I’ve made and what I should have been taking / doing. Let me tell you my sup intake.
100% Whey protein ( two scoops morning, two scoops after workout)
Creatine 10g ( one 5g scoop w/ morning whey, one 5g scoop w/ PWO)
Fish oil pills ( two in the moring, two with dinner)
Multi-Vitamin ( Breakfast, lunch, dinner)
This is my normal sup intake. I cycle my creatine three months on and one month off. Everyone does it differently. This method works for me. I was taking BSN No Xplode preworkout drinks half and hour before but felt it was giving me more of a stomach ace after running so I cut it out of my sups. Half the can sits on my fridge.
Workouts:
Workouts have been going so good. I love deadlifting, I love bench pressing. The feeling I get when I’m headed home knowing that I’m gonna get there. Eat a preworkout meal and then wait an hour and crush my workout!! Feels amazing. I am constantly pushing forward. As stated above I dreaded ab day. Now I’m doing declined weighted situps with a damn 45lb plate. I NEVER would have thought that would happen. Tire flips!! Shit my driveway is on a incline so that is a challenge. But is soooo good when over! Where I’m lacking! Not so much lacking but need to grow at is legs. I can honestly tell you guys and gals I did not do a single leg exercise untill about May. I didn’t think about it. I was way to focused on upper body. Leg day has now become what ab day once was. The only part of leg day I love is squats. For some reason I feel so powerful when standing there with all that weight on my shoulders. So I’ll leave this at legs is my current focus. Aside from lower belly fat. Which is what I’m getting into next.
Fasting: Newest part of my life
I stumbled across the hodge twins in late May. “You wanna gain some muscle?” lol. These guys are great. I started hearing about intermittent fasting. I always do the research and read enough information where I felt I was ready. July 2nd I started IF. The first two days were like an eye opener. I wasn’t starving or going crazy. I felt energized and ready to do something. What I started doing is was breaking my fast at 12pm then 4pm was a preworkout meal then the last meal was 8pm. After about a week of this I said this is easy shit. I switched up my timing a bit. I continued to break my fast at noon. But where I changed things was I get home at 3pm. So I get my preworkout meal in at that time then workout an hour after. I eat my post workout meal at 6pm to be done at 7. So now I have a 17 hour fast going on. I’m really liking this. I wish I could workout while I’m in a fasted state but I cannot due to work.
Stay Tuned!! Plenty more to come.
